Growing steadily from a single travel agency in 1973, the family-owned and managed Singer Group today comprises a variety of companies in the tourism, hospitality, hotel and property sectors in South Africa. With a year-on-year growth in turnover and an ever expanding portfolio, the Singer Group is widely regarded as one of the country’s most successful businesses in the hospitality sector.
The Singer Group portfolio consists of a highly successful retail travel agency, a conference and events company, an in-bound tour operator, a destination management company, holiday apartments, three four-star hotels, four restaurants and an online travel company.
Headed up by brothers, Leon and Brian Singer, the Singer Group is diversifying into new industry sectors that will complement existing business units - these include online ventures, telecommunications and short term finance.
As the financial driver of the organisation, Leon has played the central role in the fast growth of the Singer Group, whilst his keen interest in human resources allows him to manage human capital equally well. Leon has a special interest in corporate social investment and is involved in many charities across the Cape Peninsula.
Brian is a natural entrepreneur and has a huge appetite for new ventures. Brian also has a keen interest in developing people around him and has recently facilitated a number of SMME Black Economic Empowerment ventures. Widely regarded as one of South Africa’s experts on hotel development, Brian regularly appears in the media, and often speaks at conferences and workshops.
